(From Something Positive, by Randy K. Millholland)
You guys have been in my heart and thoughts during this great snarkless drought. My readers are very important to me. Moving on…
I hate to channel Lucas (not TDS) here, but I’ve definitely got a very bad feeling about this.
There’s a chance that Aubrey’s right. The choking thing might’ve been Linzie’s crazy right up front. She might just get off on chokin’ a bitch. I can relate. It’s weird though, how we’re being shown this kind and caring side of Linzie that takes care of stray dogs, as if we need to be shown right up front and personal that she’s not like… a complete chokey person.
This, and the choke itself, are obviously making Davan uncomfortable, and I can sympathize here. It’s wonderfully conflicting stimulus. On the outside, a warm and loving caretaker of lost puppies. On the inside, likes to choke her sex partners. He doesn’t really know what to think, likely. Neither do I.
But I’ve got a bad feeling about that girl. Call me/her crazy.
A bad feeling is totally understandable. I think Randy wanted us to have a bad feeling about her. She was found on the street, for God’s sake. Whatever Princess Arthur is like, strays can be dangerous. But I don’t know.. I’m not sure that the whole lost puppy angle is made to lull us into a false sense of security. I think that this lady might be an OK person beyond the chokey choke.
Of course, I thought the same thing about Branwen, so obviously my judgement ain’t so good.
Yeah, and am I the only one getting a distinct Branwenny feel about her appearance as well? Particularly here in panel two. Then again, that was Nancy’s intent.
Hah. I suppose. The thing about Branwen is that she seemed like the perfect choice for Davan until she turned out to be A. a crazy B. bitch. As Aubrey already said, it’s pretty obvious she’s crazy at this point. Davan doesn’t have to try to convince himself otherwise if he already knows it.
I don’t think he’s setting himself up for heartbreak, because he can just back out. Instead of having great wonderful sex with a wonderful lady who he loves and then later finding out OH NO SHE’S GOT A WEIRD FETISH AND IS A NUTBALL WHO TRIES TO KILL ME IN THE HEAT OF PASSION!! he knows right up front. The door is still open for him to run the fuck away without getting his heart broken. Because even if she’s crazier than just “choke a bitch,” the choking would be enough for the faint of heart to turn away. But maybe Randy’s just setting us all up for another Davan disappointment, this time giving Davan a reason to blame himself completely. (”I could have gotten out when she started CHOKING me”)
Of course, one could say he knew right up front that there was something a bit, if not crazy, off about Branwen, keeping her from wanting to actually have sex with him. But he didn’t know until the end that it was her feelings for this other guy.
And if none of that made any sense, or was pretty much repeating the entire point, it’s because I should be in bed right now.
Am I recalling incorrectly the character of Branwen?
Wasn’t she a pretty decent match for Davan, and only forced away by circumstances?
That said, this chick seems like nothing but bad news.
Oh she was a fine match for Davan until she cheated on him big time.
You sure you’re not talking about Eva? I don’t exactly remember Branwen cheating on Davan.
A subject I am lost on.
Amazing how many webcomics have Lucases in them though.
I was talking about George Lucas. “I’ve got a very bad feeling about this…” is the line that is featured in each part of the two trilogies.
Maybe I am. :/ Ah! I was thinking of Eva and am not sure I remember who Branwen was. Other than that her hair was stripey. Didn’t she move away?
God, I’m bad at this. :(
It’s ok, with a cast like S*P’s, it would take a fucking robot to remember every detail.
Really? That line is in EVERY movie? Man! I wonder about spotting it now!
(Really though, I don’t want to rewatch them!)
PS: If anyone else is curious, wikipedia is awesome.

Good research there, Lucas.
