Get to the shelter…
Here comes another dropped bomb.
So um. Wow. Yeah. That’s um. A little bit huge, I gotta say. I’m still gauging how I feel about it based on the trailer alone. The animation is good. Really good. An almost flawless translation from Comic to Cartoon. And directed by Ryan Sohmer, too boot.
Although it seems one’ll have to sign up for CAD Premium Membership to see them. Which is a shame. I mean it’s a good idea for Tim, because there’s enough fanbase for him that are willing to pay for such a thing. I’m not sure I’m one of them, though.
And that’s a damned shame, because I’d really like to see how this pans out.

You know, when KeenSpot got YDK optioned by Phase II productions (run by Sandy Grushow, former head of Fox Networks) he told me something along the lines of “I think movies and television will be important to the future development of webcomics.”
What’s scary to me is that webcomics will, at some point, be subsumed within larger media much as print comics.
I think it’s cool that comics can branch out, but if the ultimate goal is to turn comics into cartoons, then what does that say about the original medium itself?

Sorry, but I saw the trailer and wanted to puke. It looks like a lame version of the family guy.
The animation is great, sure… but the gamerness of it is just annoying

It’s almost as if those two adjectives go hand in hand.
Anyway, it seemed like a big deal but it looks as if they pretty much did it themselves. While it’s good they have the money to do it, it’s not as if they’ve been picked up by Cartoon Network or anything. Anyone of us could do the same thing if we had deep enough pockets.
It’s good news for their fans but not exactly a turning point for webcomics.
Now, if that Keenspot comic, whatever it was, succeeds with it’s Fox animation development deal and sees screen time. That’d be a big day.

Yeah. Seeing YDK right there next to Family Guy and Futurama would be pretty nifty, I have to admit. And I’m probably way too much of a tightwad to ante up the cash for the episodes (though I think I’d like them) so it doesn’t really matter that much to me anyway.

Oh, no… I just read the press release. Looks like they decided to work with one of their peers on the web instead of doing it by themselves.
The sisters are doing it for themselves…heh
