I’m just saying…

All right. Who’s pumped up for NaDruWriNi? I know I am. I’m excited. Although I should take a step back and ask why.

First of all, I’m not going to lie: I enjoy drinking. It’s fun. Inebriation is one of the more intriguing states of being, as it’s sort of a key that unlocks inhibitions. Lets you come out of your reservations and dance. Not only that, but it gives you an excuse. Because hey, you’re drunk.

Second, I enjoy writing. Which I hope would be obvious, since I do this criticism thing from time to time. And Comixpedia occasionally. But indeed: writing is fun. Especially when you try to see how many times you can use the fun pretentious words like “Indeed.”

So, it’s a simple concept, this NaDruWriNi. Take two things that are great and do them at the same time. Drinking and Writing. One destructive, and one constructive. Both a blast. A combination as potent as this hasn’t been invented since they combined comics with pornography. Which, I’ll let it be known, is awesome. Whoever invented that stuff, I’d like to shake his hand.

Or maybe not.

But there’s one other reason that NaDruWriNi is a great idea. Not all of us have it in us to do a full-fledged NaNoWriMo. That’s a lot of work, and takes a lot of time (Unless you’re Eric Burns, in which case you pump out words like it was God’s intent for him to do so). So this gives us drunken slackers a great chance to participate in an “event” to get pissed and write. And where the novel bit is to see what you can do in the time you’re given, the drunken bit is to see what happens when you let loose. One’s a challenge and one’s an experiment.

Hell yes.
