Hey all,

Just to let you know the Penny arcade card game is a stand alone product and not sold in booster packs and retails for 29.99. You get one 60 card Gabe deck and one 60 card Tycho Deck. No collecting is needed.

Now if you want to expand your game and fight against say Chung-Li from Street Fighter or Ivy from Soul Calibur you can purchase other booster packs from the UFS (Universal Fighting System) ccg that launches in April and expand the game!

Here's the basic model of a CCG, Kris:

You make a set of anywhere from 168 to 324 cards, and have only 30% of them be anything realistically useful. Then, you charge $4 for a 15-card booster pack containing 9 commons, 5 uncommons, and 1 rare (occassionally a ultra-rare holofoil instead) card. Half the time, the rare will suck anyway.

Base the game itself off of a pre-existing premise or rules system, and strive as hard as you can to figure out a new name for the action of turning a card sideways, because "Tap" is so been there done that. Make sure the game isn't actually all that fun itself. The real gratification comes from beating a peer in a match, because the player's own life is so uneventful he has to get validation from a collectible card game.

Make sure to release really shitty novels based on the universe the card game takes place in, if indeed it has some sort of plot.

Then, you create an expansion. After three expansions, you make the previous three expansions illegal for tournament play, forcing them to stock up on the new cards. Repeat as frequently as possible.

While you're doing this, you find a portly fellow named Phil Kahn, and continuously rape his wallet for about four years of his adolescent life. Then he quits in frustration, and swears off CCGs forever, until someone else releases one based off a webcomic franchise, causing him to buy it up because of his sick, sick obession over them.

I wish I knew from CCGs so I could just make my own boosters and such, but I haven't the faintest idea what goes on in such games.
