Blank Label Comics - A Quick Note
OK, I was about to launch a tirade against Keenspot, full of malice and ill will… But I don’t feel right doing it.
Keenspot is a lot of things. And while many of us don’t like it, it is what it is, and is one of the most important things in the webcomic “industry.” I used Keenspace to get my start, and while it was good for that part, I decided I needed to branch out on my own. Much like those six fellers are. It’s not fair to defame Keenspot as the greatest evil in the universe, or get on about how it are “teh sux.” That would just be me being a dick, and honestly I don’t feel like getting caught up in any drama. I’ve not the energy.
So I say congratulations to Blank Label Comics. You guys are great webcomickers and I wish you the best.

This is a whole lot of noise about nothing. Some guys leave Keen and start their own collective, Good for them. Matters not for the rest of us.
Same comics, same URLs.

I don’t think it’s a “whole lot of noise about nothing.” I’ve talked to many people who’ve planned (and proceeded to) start their own webcomic, and for a while, making it to KeenSpot was like a far-off dream… the reality of it is something more checkered. I think it’s an important thing to note that these people leaving weren’t just a handful of faces on the sidelines, but some of KeenSpot’s heaviest hitters: take note of which characters from what comics are being represented on the Free Comic Day cover of the KeenSpot comic… and which of those characters are part of comics that LEFT - I can name at least two off of the top of my head. Sure, this isn’t news that will shake the world down, but I definitely think that isn’t about NOTHING. We have yet to see where Blank Label goes, but at the very least, it’s new options (and goals) for other creators.

I don’t think you fully understand the whole situation behind the whole thing.

What do you mean, Josh?

What’s not to understand? They were unhappy with the financial opportunities Keen was providing them with, and they decided to go off on their own. Happens all of the time over on Modern Tales. Despite Kurtz’s somewhat self-serving comments on it, it’s not that important.

But dont get me wrong. It’s great that they ARE doing their best to earn a living from their work, it’s something we should all tip our hat to, but this has been a lot more show than substance.
Great PR.

Indeed, Josh-san. This style makes it vague to tell whom you are addressing, but do tell about the situation. Something more sinister, or something more pedestrian?
