A lot of things
Well, I’m finally done all my major schoolwork. It’s time to get back into the habit. So today, I present an ultra-post for you, a post that is actually several smaller posts and newsbits put together. Because there’s a lot I want to address and not enough time to do it all in before obsolescence sits in.

I really, really like the current story in Wapsi Square. We’re experiencing several deeper layers to shelly as a character, and developing the relationship between her and heather. From what I can gather, the issue at hand is that Shelly’s dark side is unwilling to allow heather to replace her (understandable of course, dark sides are notorious for being greedy and self-serving). I like Wapsi Square’s method of integrating all facets of human experience into the story, breaking any restraints it had under definition of a genre. What Wapsi Square is, above all else, is a life comic. It has comedy, and it has sadness. As does life. And Paul’s doing a smashing job of capturing that. My only complaint is that while those head-trip strips are awesomely done, I’m not a fan of side-scrolling. I would suggest a center-aligned vertical format when he wants to do those, as they would look better with the overall site layout as well as eliminate side-scrolling. Also, the normal strip is horizontally aligned, so a vertically aligned strip can only help to illustrate a deviation from the norm. I’m just saying is all.
Oh, and I think a romantic relationship between Heather and Shelley would be really, really cute. Unlikely though, because while that’s what Heather wants, Shelley I think still prefers men.

Whispered Apologies:
Found out about Whispered Apologies by way of Mr. McCloud. And it sounds like a fun idea that I would probably like to participate in. You can check the site for the details, but the basic gist is that you create a comic without words. You can leave space for bubbles, or put bubbles in if desired, but you leave it with no words. You send it to them, they give it words, and the collaborative funny is wrought. Like I said, it sounds like fun.

I really, really like Mookie’s depiction of Limbo. Some of the best I’ve ever seen. It works well going along with the whiteness of his site’s own background, allowing for a groovy infinite canvas feel. Just wanted to point out that grooviness.

Greg’s got the Real Life website working again, and to that I say “Huzzah!”

Superosity… I gave it a shot. I seriously don’t like it. I’d do a larger write-up like the one I did for Kevin & Kell, but I don’t have too much to say about it. It just doesn’t make me laugh (although I will give credit for the Mexican screaming lizard a month back or so… that was giggleworthy). Whatever it is about Superosity that gives its appeal, I seriously don’t see it. And I’m starting to like Sore Thumbs less. Sore Thumbs is losing the quality it had in the beginning (I’m not sure what that was, I’m still trying to put my finger on it) and the art’s not what it used to be. At any rate, I’m done reading Superosity on a regular basis. Sore Thumbs, I’m still giving some time.

I’d just been informed of the existence of a webcomic called “Sigh Whatever.” I’m giving a plug here because I like its minimalist style, quirky writing, and the creator happens to be a fellow student at Temple University. So go check out Sigh Whatever. It’s good fun.

This year’s WCCAs are coming up. You bet your ass I’m participating. Personally, I’m very excited. I like the idea of peer awards, because that tends to do a better job of showing who deserves the recognition. I’ll try to regularly cover the developments of the event, the developments of which I’ll be permitted to display at any rate.

I believe that covers just about everything. Thanks for checking in while I’ve been gone, and feeding my fish.
